Love Our Lurkers - Year 10!


This day came round so quickly that I got left far behind.


However, for an Ami that is hardly surprising. My life seems to veer from one escapade to another, with frequent reminders dotted along the route.


I remember, oh so well, how I lurked for an entire summer before daring to make a comment. I was nearly beside myself with nervousness.




I am so glad I did. To have found such a bunch of friendly people who live their lives in similar ways to Dan and I, is the BEST THING EVER! 



I want to take the opportunity to say THANK YOU to all my friends here in Blogland. I urge anyone who is uncertain about making a comment, to just go ahead and do it. Just press that button! We are all here waiting to make friends with you!

  6. Hi Ami, just wanted to let you know that while I was looking around some of your older posts I came around your recipe of Sloe Gin. Then I read about it in a Downton Abbey book my brother gave me and decided I just had to make it. I heard about sloes and thanks to my colleague I also got to know where to find them (she was so sweet to draw me a map and telling me they're bigger than blueberries, I really pictured them smaller plus I was surprised to find out they had a pit, really more like a small plum, isn't it?). Anyway I picked so many that I made the first batch after your recipe, then put the others in the freezer (that's what the DA book said anyway) waited for my 4 l jar to arrive and put the rest in there. I pricked them as well, but it wasn't really necessary. Did you ever put yours into a freezer? So now I'm shaking them every (other) day (the DA book says once a week) and I'm waiting. However what exactly do you mean when you say "strain off" (sorry, english isn't my native tongue). And when every one says it only gets better with time, does that mean when the sloes are out or wouldn't it be better to keep them in for a year? Sorry for all the questions. I really do enjoy reading your blog and just wanted to let you know that you even inspired me with one of your recipes (though I have to say how in the world you english folks can eat Christmas pudding is beyond me).

      Sloe Gin? Marvellous! Yes, they freeze very well and frozen fruit makes excellent sloe gin!

      Do you eat Christollen instead of a pudding? I usually make my own stollen and also some small gingerbread biscuits with icing sugar on.

      Your English is excellent! I so hope you will continue to comment.

      What I meant by "strain off" is to filter the liquid away from the fruit before putting in a decanter or a clean bottle just before drinking.

      The longer you keep it with the sloes in it, the more the flavour improves.

      I also have some excellent recipes for a very light version of Christmas pudding.

    2. Thanks for the reply. We do have Christstollen over here, but I don't like it that much either. I'm baking lots of Christmas biscuits though. Not really Christmas without self-made ones.

      Yeah, I got it as seperating the sloes from the gin, but how? Just a normal sieve, a very fine one or even through some kind of cloth? Though I guess a sieve will be sufficient. The frozen ones seem to "crack" a little, but the others look pretty much intact.
      So you did leave some in longer than three months?

    3. A normal sieve is okay, but I use a fairly fine sieve. It's not too important. I Am sure it will taste delicious anyway you do it. Sometimes I don't bother, and I just pour it into small glasses straight from the jar. But some of my sloe gin is several years old. I always make a good amount.

      You can also make damson gin. I almost prefer it.

    4. And you're telling me now, when I have over 6 l of sloe gin in my kitchen? lol ;-)
      That being said I've never heard of damson nor of the german word the dictionary gave me. Looks like a plum though. Not sure that kind grows in my area... Will have to ask around.

      But that is my question, when you talk of several year old gin, are the sloes still in or not?

    5. Yes, the sloes are still in the jars. But if you want to, you can take them out.

      Damsons are small, black, sour plums. Damson gin is very rich in flavour and very delicious. You can make Damson vodka as well. And Damson brandy also.

    I will remind you that I had read every single post of yours before I ever, ever made a comment. I never thought of this as lurking. It was more like unwrapping a huge gift. I found others just like me!

    Now I can't imagine not being able to speak freely about who I am, at least to the people in this community. I could never go back. Often, I think I never really understood happiness the way I do now.

    LOL day is not finished until the last comment is posted....so have a happy day. I was so jealous that you are able to pick sloes in the wild. We do have some growing wild in another state but quarantine laws prohibit us from bringing them back home.

    I'm preparing for my first spanking which will be a disciplinary spanking. After thinking and reading others stories for too long...He will begin with his hand, warming up a bit, then hairbrush, and then lex paddle. I know it will hurt but I need it.
    I will be undressed only below the waist. Bare bottom, OTK. Hoping to release pent up emotions. There will be no sex, although he promises cuddling afterward. He's a loving man and he's giving me a great sense of safety. That may sound odd to those who oppose DD but trusting him to provide boundaries for me gives me the much needed love I desire. He's out of town at present
    and we chat/ discuss everyday.
    He will return Dec.21, when I will receive discipline therapy. I'm excited yet nervous!
    Any advice ?????
